Watch World Military Games to start in Brazil this weekend


RIO DE JANEIRO (Xinhua) -- The fifth edition of the World Military Gaems will officially be held on July 16 in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro but matches of the World Cup for the military will start on Friday, organizers said Thursday.
The World Military Cup ia a football competition for national military teams. It is organized by the International Military Sports Council and was held every two years.
Brazil and Algeria will meet in the opening game of the 2011 World Military Cup, followed by Egypt and Kenya which will meet in the day's second match, while Cameroon and Trinidad and Tobago will meet in Friday's 3rd match of the morning session.
Another three matches will be played in the afternoon-evening session with Germany meeting Qatar, Surinam facing Uruguay, and Ecuador playing against France.
The World Military Games will include competitions in a variety of parachuting disciplines, including free fall and target landings, as well as sharp shooting and number of pentathlons in specialized military disciplines involving activities on land, sea and in air will be put at display.
Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff will be participating in the opening ceremony for the July 16-24 games, while some 4,000 military athletes from 112 countries and regions will compete in a total of 20 disciplines.
